Guru Nanak Dev University Alumni Association was formed in the United States on May 5, 1997 by four 1992-96 batch graduates : Satbir Singh Minhas, Damanjit Singh Padam, Sameer Bandhu and Hitesh Anand. The main idea of the Founder Members was to evolve a forum which would ensue a greater interaction among the GNDU Alumni all over the world. The first GNDUAA Reunion was held at Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA from July 4, 1997 to July 8, 1997, and was hosted by Mr.Satbir Singh Minhas, a 1992-96 batch Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate. A number of GNDU alumni from all over the US attended the reunion and refreshed their old memories and remembered the prime time of their lives spent at the wonderful GNDU campus.

Apart from relishing nostalgic memories the attendees decided to encourage GNDU Alumni all over the world - US, Canada, UK and India to come forward at a common platform so that the GNDU tradition and the Punjabiat in us remains alive. The efforts after the reunion have been channeled at starting a Mailing list for all the alumni.
